suji ka pizza recipe | rava pizza | semolina pizza | sooji pizza with step by step photo and video recipe. pizza recipes are very popular these days across india, especially with a younger audience. however, there are numerous concerns about the health aspects as it is mainly made with plain flour which in turn may indigestion issues. to solve these issues, there is a healthy alternative made with semolina or sooji dough known as rava pizza recipe.

as i mentioned earlier, pizza recipes are not native to indian cuisine but have been widely accepted and appreciated. however, there are a lot of issues and problems with the recipe preparation and also with health aspects. with respect to preparation, the traditional pizza recipes are made on the oven which is not something common across indian kitchen. hence to solve this problem, i have posted this recipe on the non-stick pan in a gas stove cook-top. basically i have used slow flame and covered the tawa with a lid which simulates oven environment. with respect to the use of maida, i have used semolina or upma rava which not only makes it healthy but also a tasty alternative. moreover, it also makes pizza crispy and hard similar to thin-crust pizza.

furthermore, before wrapping up the recipe post, some important tips, suggestions and variations to suji ka pizza recipe. firstly, i would heavily recommend using medium-sized semolina or bombay rava and do not attempt this recipe with fine or bansi rava. you would not be able to shape it with other alternatives and hence medium is best suited for this recipe. secondly, the vegetable toppings on top of this recipe are open-ended and you can use as per your preference. but ensure to chop the veggies finely and also do not overcrowd the toppings. lastly, to get a gooey pizza texture, i would recommend using full cream mozzarella cheese. alternatively, you can also use a combination of mozzarella and cheddar cheese for best results.

FAQs

Does semolina make pizza crispy? ›

Instructions: Semolina flour is typically used to make pasta, as it has a high percentage of protein, which leads to gluten development - this gives the dough its characteristic stretch and elasticity. Semolina does wonders in helping pizza crust get a crunchy, crispy bottom yet chewy texture.

Should I use semolina flour for pizza? ›

Why You Should Use Semolina Flour for Baking Pizza. If you want to make your pizza crust a little more crunchy, try using semolina flour. Semolina is excellent for making crusts that won't stick to your baking trays. If you don't want to use semolina flour, you can substitute it with Caputo 00 flour.

Which semolina is good for pizza? ›

Up your pizza game with a dusting of the finest Caputo Semola, a durum wheat semolina flour. It's the professionals' preferred tool to keep dough from sticking, and eases launching by creating a barrier between the dough and the peel.

Does semolina stop pizza sticking? ›

Like ball bearings, cornmeal or semolina on the peel prevent dough from sticking and make it easier to slide the uncooked pizza off the peel. They also add an element of flavor and crunch as they toast. While either will work, I use semolina.

What flour makes the crispiest pizza? ›

Bread Flour

It's easy to find in any grocery store (again, King Arthur Flour is a favorite brand), is affordable, and adds some extra oomph and crispiness to thin crust and New York-style pizzas. It will make your crust crispy on the outside and chewy and textured on the inside.

Is 00 flour the same as semolina? ›

There are two basic types of flour used to make almost all pasta doughs: type '00' flour and semolina flour. Type 00 flour is a finely ground soft wheat flour while semolina is a finely ground durum wheat flour.

Does Neapolitan pizza use semolina? ›

The Preparation for Neapolitan Pizza is made with type 1 flour and re-milled durum wheat semolina, so you can easily cook the queen of pizza at home, bringing out the uniqueness and typical flavor of the original version.

Why use semolina instead of flour? ›

Its higher protein content contributes to stronger gluten development, which is necessary to give breads their rise and shape. Beyond just adding to batters and doughs, semolina is also a smart ingredient to keep on hand for dusting and sprinkling, as the coarse texture helps keep doughs from sticking.

What is the difference between semolina and semolina? ›

Both semolina flour and semola are made from durham wheat, which is a high prot5ein wheat. Both share a lovely yellow color. They differ in their grind, Semolina is relatively coarse, similar to a corn meal, where semola is much finer. Semola is milled twice.

Are there 2 types of semolina? ›

Semolina flour comes in various grades, which could be roughly categorized into coarse, fine and superfine. A coarse grade is used for dusting bread, baking trays, and canvases. Fine grade is used in semolina pasta and combined with other flours in the baking of breads.

Should you bake pizza crust before adding toppings? ›

If you're baking the pizza in the oven, whether on a pizza stone or not, I always pre-bake the dough for 4-5 minutes before adding toppings, to make sure the pizza dough cooks crisp on the outside and soft and airy in the middle. Once you add the Pizza Sauce and toppings, return it to the oven to finish baking.

What makes pizza more crispy? ›

As you are rolling out and topping your first pizza, switch your oven to broil. Right before you launch, swtich your oven back to bake or convection bake 500F. The idea is to get your Steel even hotter than 500 F for this thin crust bake. It really helps crisp up that bottom.

How do you make a super crispy pizza? ›

Palm down, slide your hands under dough and lifting carefully place on to a hot pizza stone. Bake at 500°F for 4 minutes. Remove from oven and top with your favorite toppings (don't go too crazy with the toppings, a little goes a long way). Return to oven for 6-8 minutes.

What are the secrets to crispy pizza? ›

You want the pizza stone to be as hot as possible before putting the pizza in. Roll the dough out as thin as possible. I use a rolling pin to ensure the dough is thin and does not break in the middle. Before putting anything on the crust (sauce, cheese, toppings), cook the crust in the oven for 3-4 minutes.
